Halloween Caramel Apples

Caramel and candied apples are Halloween must-have treats. These deliciously frightful Halloween themed caramel apples are a fun and creative dessert for Halloween parties. While homemade caramel is wonderful, using caramel wraps make these caramel apples no-fuss and kid-friendly.

  • 8 medium apples
  • 8 wooden craft sticks
  • 8 caramel apple wraps
  • 1 (16-ounce) Ghirardelli chocolate bar
  • 16 ounces vanilla bark coating
  • Orange paste food coloring such as Pumpkin Orange Food Coloring by Cake Craft
  • Sprinkles
  • Chopped nuts
  • Black piping gel
  • Other edible decorative items of your choice

Insert craft sticks into apples. Cover each apple with 1 caramel wrap. Microwave the apples on high for 15 to 20 seconds.  Cool apples and keep them chilled until ready to dip. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate bar over low heat in a small saucepan.

Dip each apple into the chocolate and allow to dry completely. Once the apples are dry, melt the vanilla bark over low heat in a small sauce pan and add orange food coloring. Next dip the apples in the coatings of your choice. For a simple jack-o-lantern look, simply use the black writing gel to create eyes, nose and a mouth.

Alternatively, leave out the orange food coloring in the vanilla bark and use the black writing gel to create spooky Halloween ghost caramel apples or just simply roll in candy or nuts; use your imagination and have a blast!
