Easy Halloween Appetizer Recipe: Mummy Dogs

These Halloween appetizers are so popular they might become a holiday tradition and they can even fill in for a quick lunch if you’re too busy carving pumpkins. For bite size appetizers just use cocktail weiners. If your kids are free have them help you create mummy dog appetizers, they love making them as much as they love eating them.



  • 8 oz can of Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
  • American cheese slices (optional)
  • 10 hot dogs
  • Ketchup and mustard

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Unroll the dough and separate into the four predefined rectangles. Then cut each rectangle into 10 pieces so you have a total of 40 strips of dough. 

If you’re using the American cheese cut each square into 4 strips and place against a hotdog. If you’re not using the cheese just use the plain hotdog and begin wrapping each hotdog with four strips of dough. Leave a spot for the head to poke out of the bandages. This is the part kids particularly like, wrapping the mummy.

Place on baking tray when done and put in the over for about 15 minutes, until the dough has browned and hotdogs are warmed through. Then add dots of ketchup or mustard to create eyes for your mummy dog appetizers. They’re the cutest little accompaniment for a Halloween party and a favorite among kids.
